Welcome to Lango Cultural Foundation

Lango Cultural Foundation (LCF) Strategic Plan 2021-2025 provides a roadmap that will guide “Tekwaro Lango” to conserve and promote Lango culture, strengthen LCF institutional capacity, leverage on culture for socio-economic development, promote the  spirit of unity, peace and stability and mobilize sustainable resources for implementing LCF activities. The plan provides concrete actions to deliver the mandate and roles of Tekwaro Lango. The five-year strategic plan envisions becoming a united, stable,peaceful and prosperous Lango

Calendar Year of Lango

Almighty God, our creator and Father who shepherd us from Abisinia to present home in Lango, we humbly stand before you today, giving praise and thanks to you for everything you have done for us, the tribe of Lango;we pray for your protection from all harm, and for provisions for all our needs; we pray for wisdom and guidance in all tasks, and for courage to our leaders that they may protect and preserve our culture, our land and our people; let justice and peace prevail over the people of Lango, keep Lango united and healthy, and Lango walk in truth and transparency; this is our humble prayer to you which we trust and believe in your holy name,we say, Amen.

Some of the acceptable Cultural; Values, Norms, Beliefs & Practices common in Lango:
1. The clan’s salutations, songs of praise for the clans and the people;
2. Naming of new born children;
3. Initiating a newly married woman into the clan;
4. Anointment;
5. Blood reconciliation ceremony;
6. Praying to gods for good health and prosperity;
7. Ululation and cheering;
8. Organising funeral services and the vigil;
9. Traditional dance, songs and ornaments that glorify them;
10. Appeal to god to make rain fall calmly/peacefully not violently;
11. New harvest ceremony;
12. Celebrating the birth of twins;
13. Omen of meeting the first person while on a trip;
14. Slaughtering an animal or a cow at a funeral service;
15. Burying of the dead;
16. Enthroning the clan leader;
17. The traditional sprinkling of water on persons for welcome in a homestead;
18. Cementing family ties in marriage;
19. Slaughtering a bull in honour of a mother in-law;
20. Restricting of a boy together with his mother in the house like a newly born baby
for three days to enable him regain his functional manhood;
21. Performing of rituals on a child whose elder siblings have died so that he/she survives;
22. Exchange of gifts by the family of the bridegroom and that of the bride;
23. The traditional sprinkling of water for warm welcome to a mother-in-law;
24. Slaughtering a bull in honour of a father;
25. Ceremonial blessing of the spears in preparation for hunting;
26. Sandals gambling to find what is on the ground and also fore-tell the future;
27. Traditional ceremony for a newly born baby;
28. The traditional period to mourn the dead;
